DaVero Farms & Winery Healdsburg, California March 2018 Farmguy and I are in California this week. Our visit is a combination of wine field trip and birthday celebration. But, before we were able to have a glass of something sparkling to celebrate Farmguy’s special day, we met some very charming representatives of DaVero Farms & Winery. DaVero Farms & Winery is a biodynamic family farm producing small lots of exceptional Italian wine and olive oil in the Dry Creek Valley. Their motto is “Grow what belongs here. Be Patient.”
Farmgirl and Clementine Kitty Mornings on Green Hill Farm This is how I greet every morning on Green Hill Farm…with sweet Clementine nuzzling my hand and encouraging wakefulness with her dainty kitty kisses. I love Clemmie Cat, and I’m grateful for such a lovely beginning to each day. This may seem like a little thing, but […]
Daffodils! Green Hill Farm 2018 I love this time of year as winter starts thinking about transitioning to spring. The days are warming up, the daffodils are coming up, the pastures are greening up…and my mood starts lifting up. I know we’re not completely done with winter, yet. But, I sure am grateful for this wonderfully warm weather. And, […]
“Let us be grateful to the people (and animals) who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” ~Marcel Proust Wishing you a peaceful and joyful weekend!
Hamish, Rosebud, & Ivy Green Hill Farm January 2018 Have a wonderful weekend!
Hamish in the corral on shearing day. This is Hamish, one of Green Hill Farm’s most entertaining and beloved sheep…just after he’s been sheared: “OMG Farm girl!! WHAT HAPPENED to my ear?!” “No worries, Hamish. It’s still there—just tucked behind your right horn.” 😉 Have a great weekend!
Farmguy spontaneously took this photograph a few winters ago during a polar vortex. We were headed out the door to feed our sheep and chickens, and he was amused by my “winter outfit.” During this time of year, Green Hill Farm is our version of a tundra—we’re in a valley of sorts, surrounded by mountains…and the wind blows with a vengeance. So, with temperatures dipping into the teens and single digits over night, I’m back to this lovely look, again. Ughh! But, wintertime isn’t all bad. Even though it’s cold and not fun to go outside, I thought I would embrace the beauty of the season by sharing some of my favorite photographs from past winters on Green Hill Farm. Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
Good friend and animal advocate extraordinaire, Ralph Sites posing with dear, little Bizou on the day of his adoption. December 2016 This photo represents more than just a man and a dog at Christmastime. It represents the true meaning of kindness, goodness, service—and, most importantly…PURPOSE. Our friend, Ralph has a family, a job, and a life of responsibilities like many […]
I absolutely love this photo of our sheep. It was taken one snowy February morning in early 2012. And, of course, sweet Hamish is standing front and center. This photo was also the inspiration for our Christmas card that year—the greeting read: Fleece Navibaah! 😉 Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
I LOVE wandering around vintage/antiques stores. You know the kind—where there’s everything from beautiful, old quilts to those tacky Smurf drinking glasses you just had to collect when you were a child. The fun thing is you never know what you may find….treasure or trinkets. But, it’s all good stuff! Well, recently, while enjoying a lazy afternoon in one of these […]
