“Live on The Good Side, The Bright Side, The True Side Of Everything!” ~Christian D. Larson This sunflower is a volunteer in our garden. It sprang up right under the bird feeder which is filled with sunflower seeds. I’ve actually tried numerous times to grow sunflowers in my garden to no avail, but there was no stopping this little upstart. […]
“La Vie en Rose” performed by Catherine Carraway Quartet “La Vie en Rose” is a song that expresses the bliss of being in love. It brims with pure emotion and beautiful sentiment. To me, it’s one of the loveliest songs ever written. “La Vie en Rose” or the English translation, Life Through Rosy Pink Glasses, was released as a single in 1947 by French singer, Édith Piaf and is one of her most famous and beloved songs. Édith Piaf, also known as “The Little Sparrow,” became an icon of France during World War II. She was a symbol of French passion and tenacity. Piaf’s signature song was about finding love after a trying time, and many people saw it as an anthem of hope as it was released shortly after the end of World War II. “La Vie en Rose” is about a state where everything appears rosy and cheerful because of being in love; thus, creating a feeling of “wearing rose-colored glasses.” When I hear it, I think of it as something more. It isn’t just a song about romance; it’s an anthem of love for life, especially when everything around you is considered a source of joy. Here’s the thing: Life through rosy pink glasses isn’t about being foolishly optimistic. Instead, it’s about a state of bliss, where one is truly able to see things in a positive light. So, here’s to life in pink!
This is one of my favorite memories and photographs from childhood. I must have been about 4-years-old. I remember taking turns with my cousins to bottle-feed this little, injured piglet. It was good practice for the future! It’s never too early to learn compassion. 🙂 Happy Friday!

I’d like to start with the fact that I don’t normally get emotionally involved or gush over dessert. Yes. I enjoy decadent treats in moderation: a piece of Victoria sponge or chocolate cake on occasion. I don’t, however, just lose my mind over sweet things…….until last week. It started out innocently enough. My dad is a fine gardener and always has […]
I love days like this one. After having coffee, Farmguy and I spent the morning taking care of farm chores: cleaning out the barn, drenching the sheep (de-worming), trimming hooves, and feeding the chickens–Farmgirl bliss! Happy Friday!

I’m not much of a mixed drink connoisseur. I usually find that I enjoy wine more: sparkling, white Burgundy, and Bordeaux styles. However, a few years ago, while visiting with friends in Yorkshire, England, I discovered a cocktail that even I realized was pretty good. I liked it enough to ask the bartender for the recipe. It’s called a Hendrick’s […]
“Where did you go, Farmgirl?” We’ve been looking EVERYWHERE for you!”
A while ago, my husband and I spent a little time in Montana. And, I have to say that it’s one of the most peaceful and serene places I’ve visited in the United States. As soon as I stepped out of the airport in Missoula, I knew this was the place for me: big sky, lots of green, and so […]
