The Weekly Bleat: Violet and Buttercup
I recently shared a post about one of our sheep named, Violet and her friend, a yellow, Buff Orpington hen that we’re now calling “Buttercup.” Violet has been observed on more than one occasion either watching or lying near the chickens, and Buttercup always seems to be nearby scratching in the grass. It appears that Violet and Buttercup are quickly becoming pasture pals.

I’ve always found it amazing the different relationships that animals will make when near each other, relationships that seem to go against what we consider their “nature”. I’ve seen cats sleeping with dogs, a bird riding on a cat’s back.

I agree with you! My cats and dogs have always slept together. It may be more their “nature” than we realize.

Thanks, Donna. Our sheep have always been curious about other animals. When the barn cats are walking the fence line–or even Maud, Clover will walk up and stick his nose through the fence as if to say, ” hello there!” 🙂
