Friendship

I’ve known my friend, Rhonda for 30 years now.  We met in the spring of 1986 when we were both trying out for our high school’s drill/dance team.  I was 14 and she was 13.  Rhonda was friendly, bubbly, and easy-going, and we just seemed to click.  We were great friends throughout high school as well as college roommates. True Grit

This post is inspired by a conversation with a very good friend. *I was given permission to share this post by my friend. A friend of mine received some rather upsetting and stressful news this week regarding something that has a significant impact on him.   A decision made by others as well as the ramifications of this decision are the sources of his anger and frustration.  This is a person who is intelligent, fair-minded, hard-working, and successful.  And, the injustice of this decision process as well as his perceived powerlessness is one of the reasons he is in such a negative state.  He shared that he felt as if he’d been “kicked in the gut.”  After some discussion, I learned that the initial decision was grounded in an endeavor to do “the right thing.”  Although this decision was meant to be a positive change, it was not discussed and taken through proper and standard channels before being decided upon.  Nevertheless, the decision was made.  The galling part is how this decision is now being handled by others and the unfair impact on my friend and his peers. Understandably, my friend is in a funk and having a rather difficult time accepting this news.  I listened and agreed with him regarding the injustice and unfairness of the matter.  But then, I said, “You’ve got to accept this and let go of your toxic feelings about it.  There’s no use wasting […]

Champions Award

I am honored to have been nominated for this Champions Award by the lovely Judy.  Judy is the author of the blog, Edwina’s Episodes.  This is an eclectic blog with something for everyone: creative writing and poetry as well as lots of warmth and humor.  Judy is such an authentic and caring person, always supporting others by showing an interest in their writing as well as their lives.  I’ve known Judy for about a year and a half now, and I’m so happy to call her a friend. These awards are the original brainchild of Seumus Gallacher, a successful author and blogger, and are given out to those that “go the extra mile for others.” With that in mind, I am nominating seven bloggers who are always supporting others.  There are so many of you that deserve this award, many of whom have been nominated already. These seven bloggers, as far as I know, have not yet been nominated:   Melody from Meals With Mel Rob from The V-Pub Joey from Joeyfully Stated George from The Off Key of Life J R from Chronicles of a Blogaholic Jim from Random Writings on the Bathroom Wall Cheryl from Cheryl “Cheffie Cooks” Wiser   Recipients, if you choose to accept and wish to share the CHAMPIONS AWARDS, please do the following: 1.Post the Award Sticker on your blog, with the hashtag #CHAMPIONSAWARDS 2.Acknowledge the sponsor of your Awards. 3.Choose at least five […]
