My name is Tonya, and I grew up on a 300-acre farm in rural Virginia that has been in my family for over 100 years. After graduating from college, receiving my masterโs degree in speech and language pathology, and living and working in a small city for six years, I decided to return to the place of my childhood. Here, in this rural area, on this patch of green, where for four generations my family has farmed, gardened, and lived, I, too wanted to be a part of this continuity. As a fourth generation farmgirl, I have many interests that not only include, but also go beyond the basics of farming, gardening, sheep and chicken-keeping. It is all of this and more that I plan on sharing in this blog.

I am so not ready to write about our long lost rescue kitteh. It’s been years and I’m still weepy. Tears of happiness for this beautiful white fluffball, though. I’m a big believer in always rescuing pets, and in the remarkable transformation with time, love, and attention.

I’m so sorry about your beloved “kitteh,” Joey. How heartbreaking! Our pets are special members of the family.
You are right about the importance of pet adoption and the transformative power of love and attention. It completely makes the difference in a life of quality or a life of misery for these cats and dogs. Thank goodness for people who see the value and goodness in these sweet, little animals.

I agree with you, Laura. It’s such a lovely story. There are many good people in the world carrying out acts of love and caring everyday for cats and dogs in need. Sometimes it’s something as simple as “seeing” and not ignoring a suffering animal.

Exactly! Someone made a big difference in the life of this beautiful, sentient animal–just by caring enough to stop instead of driving by him. We can ALL do so much good! ๐
