You’ve Got This

For those of you who follow this blog, you may remember a post titled, Above and Beyond:  An Everyday Hero.  A couple of years ago, a major water pipe in our home broke, and a very kind and determined person rescued us. We thought he was just our plumber, but he turned out to be much more.  He was our hero…answering an emergency call late on a snowy, Saturday night, problem-solving a difficult situation, and working undeterred until, once again, we had water. During this dire situation, our plumber, Mike Walker dug five gallons of dirt out of a tiny access hole, and then, climbed into this small, dirty space. He ignored his own safety, well-being, and comfort to repair our out-of-reach pipe, but also to preserve the hardwood floors in our 200-year-old family home. He did all of this, unselfishly, to save us from a significant amount of stress, inconvenience, and heartbreak–a true hero.

Since that night, I’ve been thinking a lot about this concept of  “everyday heroes.”  And, here’s the thing:  Heroism lies within all of us.  Each of us has the power to make our lives and the lives of others better.  Sometimes we may feel that life is always trying to “start something” by throwing a challenge or a truly dark situation at us.  However, it doesn’t matter if the problem is “too high to get over, too low to get under, and we’re stuck in the middle,” we can still overcome it. All we need is an unwavering belief in ourselves, faith in a higher power, a positive attitude, unabated enthusiasm, and a spirit that won’t give up…No. Matter. What.  So, whenever life wants to “start something,” just remember—you can finish it….you’ve got this. 🙂

“It is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others.”

  1. Hello. I have been struggling in a dark place for a very long time but am back, blinking in the light of a new dawn and stronger than I have been emotionally for far too many moons. How wonderful to ‘find’ you again and how amazing that you refer to a blog post that I remember so well. We HAVE got this. We ARE all strong enough. Ironically I feel stronger than I ever have at this time when the world is gripped by the virus and it’s attendant fear. Strong enough to know that together we will make it through. Thank you. I loved this 💫

    • Osyth,
It’s so wonderful to hear from you! I apologize for the delay in responding. After completing a number of wine education courses, I opened a wine experience business/ shop last June. The last several weeks have been a little crazy.
I’m happy you’ve overcome that “dark place.” You have such a beautiful soul and so much light within that I’m not surprised you’re in a better place now. 💗
Thank you for reading the post. You always make the most thoughtful comments. Welcome back! I look forward to visiting with you! Take care! 😊♥️xoxo

      • How exciting! When we are able to travel again I make this a promise – the husband with two brains and I will visit your shop. You may remember that wine is a rather important part of our lives and I would love to support your business and to learn a little from your educated place. Your words mean a great deal to me. Please take good care of you and those you cherish, especially now 💫 💕 xoxo
