“On the Turning Away”
“Don’t accept that what’s happening is just a case of others’ suffering, or you’ll find that you’re joining in the turning away.”

My name is Tonya, and I grew up on a 300-acre farm in rural Virginia that has been in my family for over 100 years. After graduating from college, receiving my master’s degree in speech and language pathology, and living and working in a small city for six years, I decided to return to the place of my childhood. Here, in this rural area, on this patch of green, where for four generations my family has farmed, gardened, and lived, I, too wanted to be a part of this continuity. As a fourth generation farmgirl, I have many interests that not only include, but also go beyond the basics of farming, gardening, sheep and chicken-keeping. It is all of this and more that I plan on sharing in this blog.
you are not authorized to post any more photos with that white stuff in them until like say … oh … I dunno … December … of 2027.

Your pictures are divine. That piece of music is so totally appropriate for the mood the world, but particularly the United States is feeling right now. After the events of Sunday morning, I perceive a very real feeling that we must ALL join together. I hope that feeling lasts. Because it is the way through in the end. I wish you a peaceful and contented day and I thank you for the highly pertinent and achingly beautiful post.

Beautiful song choice, Tonya.
My artist brother, Randy, loves Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. This song with its powerful and yet, gentle message, was an excellent one to choose to post. No turning away, face the horror and loss. We must stand together as a wall, holding each other up. Embracing Love. ❤ ❤

Our month of May was rainy and gloomy. We’ve finally had some sunny days, but the weather went straight from winter to summer. I just planted my tomatoes yesterday. If I’m lucky, I might have some by September.
Enjoy your time off!! 😊

Thanks Tonya .Oh how lovely. We have some tomatoes and courgettes growing but it poured with rain today so I hope they are going to thrive! 🙂

It’s really nice having some fresh veg right out of the garden, if the weather cooperates. The rain should be good for your tomatoes and courgettes ( I think we call them zucchini). Best of luck with your garden! 😊

Thanks Tonya. Yes I love fresh veg from the garden. We had some some a couple of years ago that did really well 🙂
