Tuesday Tunes: Holiday

As a child of the 80’s, I grew up listening to Madonna and Cyndi Lauper as well as other artists; however, in eighth grade, I was probably more of a Cyndi Lauper fan.  Much to my mother’s chagrin, I occasionally sneaked out of the house wearing iridescent pink and green eyeshadows applied in a rainbow fashion in an attempt to emulate my favorite rocker.

Although I don’t wear rainbow-style eyeshadow anymore or listen to Cyndi and Madonna very often, I still love the song, “Holiday” by Madonna.  It’s always been one of my favorites due to its upbeat and positive energy!

With the holidays upon us, our thoughts turn to friends and family and wonderful times spent together.  This post is just a little tribute to all of those people who make my life merry and bright!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

*A very special thank you to our good friend and fantastic photographer, Doug Frassa.  The first half of this photo collage is comprised of Doug’s spontaneous and artful photographs.

  1. Didn’t know you were a Cindy Lauper fan. Time After Time is still on my short list of favorites. Makes me teary when I hear it while thinking of my daughter and what she means to me.

    • I was a Cyndi Lauper fan briefly…1984-1985. Her concert in Roanoke in Fall of ’84 was my first….Dad made us leave before the last song in order to avoid traffic. So, I missed “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.” Anyway, “Time After Time” was one of my favorites, too. What a sweet thing to say about Bear. She’s a special, little girl and lucky to have a dad like you. 🙂

  2. Those are lovely photos Tonya. I love Madonna’s early stuff, and some of Cyndi Lauper’s too, although her look was a little too outrageous for my taste (not to mention limited makeup skills)!!! Thanks for sharing and Happy Christmas to all of you on the farm 🙂
