Friday Farm Favorites: A Farmgirl Abroad
These photographs were taken last summer in London at one of my favorite places—Trafalgar Square. I first visited this vibrant place as a student studying in London for a semester, and I’ve loved it ever since.
Trafalgar Square, a lovely open space, is a landmark heritage site in the City of Westminster (central London). At its center is Nelson’s Column, which is guarded by four lion statues at its base. The name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, a British naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain which took place in 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar, Spain. Today, The Square is surrounded by world class galleries, cultural spaces, and historic buildings.
As you can see, it didn’t take long for this farmgirl to find a chicken—actually, an artful rooster!
**Photographs are courtesy of our friend and wonderful photographer, Doug Frassa.
Enjoy your weekend!!

Like you I enjoyed London when we visited several years ago but I absolutely loved the countryside..little towns and villages, so much open space to hike and wander, friendly people.. And quiet. Great photos. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, George. I agree with you—the English countryside is so lovely. We were just in London for a couple of days before heading to the Cotswolds. If you enjoy market towns and beautiful spaces, you may want to visit Gloucestershire, England. It’s such a charming area that’s approximately 1 1/2 hours from London.

i, too, liked Trafalgar Square when I was there. It’s like a central meeting place for just about everything, like the reflection pond in DC or Times Square in NY. Everyone passes through, and everything happens there.
