True Beauty
Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, is one of my all-time favorite books. I especially love these inspirational and moving lines spoken by Marmee, matriarch of the family:
“If you feel your value lies in being merely decorative, I fear that someday you might find yourself believing that’s all that you really are. Time erodes all such beauty, but what it cannot diminish is the wonderful workings of your mind: Your humor, your kindness, and your moral courage. These are the things I cherish so in you. I so wish I could give my girls a more just world. But I know you’ll make it a better place.”

Thank you, Becky. The fragrance of lavender was in the air. We noticed it as soon as we opened the car doors–just beautiful!

Thank you, Donna. Me, too! It’s hard to believe it’s been a year. I think the gardens and flowers were the prettiest I’d ever seen them. 🙂

Thank you, Judy. Those photos were taken last July, and the gardens seemed to be at their peak. Mr. Peacock was very forward; he kept jumping up on the tables where people were having their lunch or tea. I have a feeling that he’d done this before. 😉
