“The Weekly Bleat: Brave New World”
The chicks are about 7 weeks old and looking more and more like miniature chickens these days. They’re finally ready to come out of the coop and explore the outdoors. Although it will be a while before they’re free-ranging in the pasture, these little guys have plenty of room inside the safety of the aviary for now.
Today was the first time the chicks have felt the warmth of the sun on their faces and bodies. They were a bit uncertain about leaving their cozy coop, but it wasn’t long until they were out and frolicking in the sunshine.
Welcome to their “coming out” party! Here’s a little music to get the party started. 😉

So cute! Do I spy a salmon favorolle? If so, totally jealous.

Thank you! I’m not sure–two of the chicks are supposed to be Araucanas. However, I’ve been noticing that they don’t look the same. I started worrying that one may be a rooster. Actually, they don’t look at all like the Araucanas I had last year. I guess time will tell! I’ll keep you posted. Hope all of your feathery babies are well. 🙂

They really loved being outside! One of the first things they did was stretch out their wings and sunbathe. 🙂

The best thing about being a farm girl is you have all the time in the world to do what you like and when you want. Envy you.

I think about that everyday and feel extremely grateful. Especially since I didn’t have this option for many years. I get great satisfaction from being on the farm interacting with and nurturing my animals. It feels meaningful to me. 🙂

I think the chicks were a little unsure in the beginning. It was their first experience going outside of the coop. They seemed to enjoy scampering around and sunning themselves once they got acclimated. 🙂
