Christmas Memories

“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”

–Charles Dickens

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”

–Laura Ingalls Wilder

I love this time of year–beautiful music, snow, twinkling lights, festive decorations and yummy treats.  It’s also an occasion to be with friends and family.  Christmas time always awakens so many memories!  I especially remember looking forward to visiting with grandparents and cousins:  The warmth of my grandparents’ homes, wonderful smells, playing with cousins and all of the smiles and laughter.

Here’s the thing:  Every year we have another opportunity to make new memories; so, let’s get out there!  Take a walk in the snow with a friend, bake something scrumptious to share, do something thoughtful for someone, listen to joyful music or cuddle under a blanket with a loved one.  After all, Christmas spirit is really just a frame of mind; it’s what we radiate to others that truly matters–Christmas Day and everyday.
